Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision: Specialized areas of AI, such as NLP and computer vision, are particularly lacking in Malaysia. A report by the World Economic Forum (WEF) highlighted that fewer than 1% of the AI talent in Malaysia are specialized in these advanced AI domains. This shortage is a significant barrier to the development of AI applications such as speech recognition and image processing.
